Michigan Ceramics 2014 is one of the few U.S. exhibitions of its caliber operated entirely by artists. This Biennial exhibition and competition showcases the excellence of ceramic art and its diversity across the state of Michigan and neighboring states. Entrance is open to all residents of Michigan and all MCAA members, regardless of state of residence. We are excited to announce this years exhibition will be held at the Saginaw Art Museum and our Juror for this year will be internationally recognized ceramic artist and educator, Andrea Gill, from Alfred University.

James Adair - New MCAA President

While a student at Northwestern Michigan College in the early 1970’s, Jim began a life long interest and passion for clay and pottery. He earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Western Michigan University and eventually graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters of Fine Art with an emphasis in Ceramics, in 1982. He has maintained a studio at home while pursuing a twenty-five year career at General Motors Design as an Industrial Design Sculptor. Currently Jim is an Adjunct Professor at Oakland Community College, Auburn Hills. He teaches the beginning throwing classes there and facilitates the firing of their wood kiln twice a year. Jim has been a MCAA board member for a number of years.




The Michigan Ceramics Art Association is seeking candidates for the 2014 MCAA Scholarship Award. This award encourages students to continue their studies as a ceramics artist and complete their undergraduate and graduate education. Two $500.00 scholarships will be awarded. To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. citizen and currently enrolled at a post secondary institution of higher education within the state of Michigan. We are looking for students who desire a career in field of ceramic arts and industry and/or in ceramic education.
