Saturday featured two approaches to raku –
Ned Krouse’s methods of achieving color
with slips and careful control of oxidation and
reduction (top), and Gloria Frank’s nearly
smokeless method of firing using a mud seal for
the reduction chamber (center). A collective “Ahh!”
went through the audience as John Stephenson,
(above) assisted by Ianna Frisby, released a spiral
form from its wire armature and the whole process
became clear. Not pictured but equally appreciated
were presenters Ron Ruth, Caroline Court, Georgette
Zirbes, and Pi Benio. |
