throwing clinic with Kathy Dambach (below) and
Yiu Keung Lee (below center) offered audience
members hands-on instruction.



Joe Zajac (above)
shared his methods of wooden mold making as well
as various surface treatments.

Saturday featured two approaches to raku
– Ned Krouse’s methods of achieving
color with slips and careful control of oxidation
and reduction (top), and Gloria Frank’s
nearly smokeless method of firing using a mud
seal for the reduction chamber (center). A collective
“Ahh!” went through the audience as
John Stephenson, (above) assisted by Ianna Frisby,
released a spiral form from its wire armature
and the whole process became clear. Not pictured
but equally appreciated were presenters Ron Ruth,
Caroline Court, Georgette Zirbes, and Pi Benio. |

Guest artist Peter Beasecker (below) entertained
and enlightened his audience for two days, throwing
and assembling a variety of forms..
In two afternoons, Sam Chung (below center and
bottom) took viewers from drawing to creating
templates through combining thrown and slab elements.
