Carter from Dearborn, who both attend
Henry Ford Community College; John
Ahearn, Jr. from Tecumseh, who attends
Adrian College; and Janelle
Songer from Ferndale, who attends
the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Congratulations
go out to all four winners along with the best

Call for Applications
The Michigan Ceramic Art
Association is seeking candidates for the 2009
MCAA Scholarship Award. The number of students
that will be chosen to receive these awards will
be at the MCAA Governing Board’s discretion.
Winners will receive $500 each.
This award is to encourage
students to further their ceramics education.
To be eligible, a student must be enrolled for
the Fall 2009 semester at a post-secondary institution
within the state of Michigan. We are looking for
students who desire a career in ceramic arts or
ceramics industries, and/or the teaching of ceramics
arts.
Students may be judged
on works either completed or in progress. The
Governing Board will view photos, slides, and/or
digital images of a student’s work, review
their statement of need, and letter(s) of recommendation.
Works shall be judged on talent, skill, inventiveness,
originality, craftsmanship, form and subject(s).
All judgments will necessarily be decisions by
the Governing Board and are final.
